- August Haiti Team Project: LIV POU YO OFELEN (Books for Orphans) August 2-12 - The short-term mission team of Ann Wise, Trish Bernheisel, Jodi Noble, Justin Walak and Colleen McCallus are heading to Haiti. During our trip we will be spending several days at the orphanage in Saline Maillete. We will be turning a storage room into a library (liberi) for the orphans. That means we need lots and lots of books! The smaller children are just learning to read and the older ones are now beginning to study English. We are purchasing Creole and bilingual (Creole/English) books, dictionaries, bibles and bible curriculum. Books average $10-15 each. In addition, we will be purchasing supplies and tools to paint the library and orphans houses and to build bookshelves. We are also accepting donations of new or slightly used toys for children ages 3-12. Plastic or wooden toy trucks, marbles, dominos, dolls, balls of all types or any other lightweight, durable toys will be good and new, handmade or like new children's clothing; summer dresses, skirts and blouses for girls sizes 3T-16 and pants, shorts, shirts or tops for boy 3T-18; under garments, shoes and shocks for both boys and girls. Please put any toys and clothing donations in Room 101 marked Haiti-August Trip. Monetary donations may be made online, placed in the offering plate, turned into the Information Booth or given to one of the team members. Help Haiti's Children to Read!
